Located in Mexico’s northeastern region, Nuevo Leon is a
progressive state known as an important farming, industrial
and modern commercial center. This state has a hot climate
and beautiful natural scenery at places like the Bustamante
Caverns and Garcia Caverns, ideal spots to go cave diving.
You can also take long walks or go on a photo safari at the
Cumbres de Monterrey National Park, where you’ll find
numerous natural attractions, such as Monterrey’s emblematic
Cerro de la Silla, Chipinque Ecological Park and Huasteca
Canyon, which are excellent places for ecotourism outings
and adventure sports. In the Matacanes Canyon, located south
of the state capital, you’ll find a series of waterfalls,
crystalline ponds and caves, making it a popular destination
for canyoneering enthusiasts. At the Cascada Cola de Caballo
National Park you’ll find the 20-meter (66-foot) waterfall
fascinating. Nearby, you can do a thrilling 70-meter
(231-foot) bungee jump.
In the city of Monterrey, which ranks among Mexico’s three
most important commercial centers, you can admire the
colonial and modern architecture, such as that of the
Palacio del Obispado and the Museum of Contemporary Art. You
can also visit various shopping areas where you’ll find all
kinds of leather goods. Finally, be sure to try the
excellent regional cuisine, including the popular cabrito
(roasted goat) and sweets made from goat milk, known as
glorias.
